Overview

During our administrative internship year, each NELA Fellow was matched with an Executive Coach. Our Executive Coaches served as mentors to us throughout the year; they encouraged us to reflect on our practice on a weekly and provided thoughtful feedback on our reflections, conducted joint teacher observations and debriefs with us, and met with us regularly to discuss challenges we faced or anticipated facing in our schools. In addition, they completed three assessments of our proficiency on the NC School Executive Evaluation Rubric for Pre-Service Candidates, and discussed with us our areas of progress and areas for growth. My Executive Coach, Dr. Henry Johnson, is an esteemed leader in education in North Carolina and throughout the country. I am honored to have had this opportunity to learn from him. As the school year progress you will find:
  • A sample weekly log from my administrative internship that I shared with Dr. Johnson, along with his feedback
  • Dr. Johnson's quarterly assessment of my proficiency on the NC School Executive Evaluation Rubric for Pre-Service Candidates.
